Every new beginning deserves gentle support.
Get to know Maya,
Hey everyone! I’m so glad you found your way here. I wanted to take a moment to share a little about myself and how I began my journey as a postpartum doula and certified sleep consultant.
From a young age, I knew I wanted to be a mother someday. Watching my cousins start their own families played a big role in shaping my “why.” Growing up in a family full of mothers, I was surrounded by nurturing energy and deep support, from diaper changes to late-night talks. I spent my early years helping care for younger cousins, soaking up every snuggle, every lullaby, and learning how love looks in action. That love naturally expanded into babysitting for neighborhood families throughout high school and college, where I became known as a safe, supportive presence that parents could trust.
I always knew I wanted to work with families and children, but I wasn’t quite sure what that would look like. That uncertainty led me to pursue my Master of Public Health with a focus on Maternal, Child, and Family Health at UNC Chapel Hill. While there, I discovered the world of doulas, and everything clicked. I immediately enrolled in a postpartum doula training through DONA International and began working with families in North Carolina while finishing my degree.
After graduating, I returned home to the D.C. area and decided to continue offering postpartum care, while also seeking growth opportunities. Many of the families I supported overnight shared how transformative those restful nights were, and how sleep challenges with older babies or toddlers still lingered. Inspired by that feedback (and with a little nudge from family!), I pursued certification as a sleep consultant to support families beyond the newborn phase.
I believe deeply in the power of rest. Whether it's holding space during the tender fourth trimester or helping your toddler (and you!) get a full night's sleep, I’m here to support your family’s unique rhythm. I value sustainable routines, gentle guidance, and inclusive, compassionate care for all families — including families of color, LGBTQ+ families, and single parents — who deserve to feel seen, supported, and safe.”
If you’ve made it this far, thank you for reading a piece of my heart. I’m honored to walk with you on this journey and can’t wait to connect.
